Second time in 2 weeks, food was extremely slow, half of our 6 to 8 group were done eating by the time we got ours, women's bathroom a mess. Will not go back. Food was barely average.

I really enjoy this place when my parents come visit me from ft. lauderdale , they stay at the hotel in fisherman vilage and we always eat here and enjoy the view and the food, and the staff is friendly, fast and never had a issue. will recommend to any one

I like Harpoon Harry's for what it is...location location location!!!! A 2nd story waterfront balcony, divey tank tops & flip flops bar where you can get decent bar food and a strong margarita. Its remarkably clean for being so exposed to the bay/birds, outdoors, etc..... The food & service are 3 stars and 5 stars for the view....its FANTASTIC! *had fun watching the sea birds line up on the railing just in time for lunch :)

The view and atmosphere here are nice but the food is far from desirable. I stopped at Fisherman's Village on our way back from the Florida Keys. We were hungry and he had been there before and knew that it was a night spot for shopping and eating. I'm always in the mood for shopping so he knew that I would be all about it. The restaurant is located directly on the water at the end of a strip of gift shops which is enough to make me go back. However, I ordered the club sandwich which was the only picture of an entrée om the menu. I thought that in and of it self seemed like the obvious choice. It was edible, but definitely not fresh or desirable. My man got the stuffed grouper which was recommended by the bartender. It was super bland and he didn't even finish it. I have to assume that these would be two of their best dishes and I was very unimpressed. Maybe next time I will just stick the the shopping:)

Great food and atmosphere. Kids menu has Mac and Cheese which is always a winner. "Key West" beer on tap!

If you want to wait 30 mins for a server to bring you drinks, then another 30 mins, to check if you are ready to order, then an hour for your food, then another 30 mins for the server to see if you need anything else...... You may enjoy the experience. The plus side is the view. It's on the water.

I'm not surprised to see mixed reviews on here. I too thought the can inside the pitcher of beer was a rip off! Although to be fair, not sure if the pitcher is proportionally cheaper because of that beer can in the middle of it, taking up quite a bit of space. Buyer beware. We all thought the food was very good. I had probably one of the best pina coladas there, very dark with a rum taste, not just mix. It was great. The atmosphere is touristy, but it was cool and I loved the view. I would definitely go back when I'm down in Florida again.

Service was very poor. Food was below average and the crab sandwich is not even REAL crab. Calamari was tough. View was the only good thing there.

This is one of the several restaurants in Fisherman's village. To my knowledge, all three restaurants there are all under the same management. When compared to the other restaurants in Fisherman's village, Harpoon Harry's is not where you want to go for a good meal. I have seen the kitchen and it's very greasy and food standards are not being met. They are a younger staff who are more interested in finishing their shift than offering upscale service. **Food Quality: three words....."microwave" and "deep fryer". You will not get fresh made high quality food here. I ordered crab cake sliders and was not impressed. The buns were stale and the crab cakes were mushy, deep fried and bland. They were said to be served with a flavored mayonnaise - which was forgotten when I was served my meal. Even after I received the condiment- it did little to bring these crab cakes to life. **Service: this is a very busy "seat yourself" establishment with a fun and energizing atmosphere. I stopped counting at 30 televisions and they also have a small arcade. It is VERY noisy - but fun nevertheless. Picnic table style seating. **Other notes: I ordered one of their speciality mixed drinks and it was a huge disappointment. The plastic cup was filled to the top with ice- and the drink was so watered down I could not taste any liquor nor any distinguishing flavors. For the prices they charge, the drinks should be better. Huge disappointment on the mixed drinks. In summary, if I wanted to drink beer (specifically) and watch a game- I would come here. For food and cocktails- I highly recommend you try somewhere else. I was able to view the kitchen upstairs at "The Captains Table" and the cleanliness and food prep was vastly improved. I haven't eaten there....yet. Final review: no thank you. :)

Fast food level quality with a great location. Have a beer, look at the water, then go somewhere else to eat! All of fisherman's Village is a tacky tourist trap and this place fits right in! :) Don

Son's taco salad without meat ( he is a vegetarian) was just greens and onions and tomato, but it did contain a plastic bag. The ladies restroom was disgustingly dirty and smelly. We were disappointed that they did not have mire games for the kids.

After reading the reviews, I thought I'd play it safe and order a cup of the New England chowder. What seemed like forever to get it served in a styrofoam cup, it was barely lukewarm and watery. Worst chowder I've ever had. Great view and atmosphere--too bad the food doesn't match !

Yes, this place has an awesome view. But, that's about the only nice thing this restaurant has to offer. The waitress took forever on everything. She would walk by numerous times before checking on us. We ordered a Calamari appetizer which never came. When the food came we asked the waitress about if and she went in the back and came out with it in about 2 minutes. Needless to say, it was cold and chewy. It had obviously been sitting there for a while. The blackened chicken sandwich was pretty good, but the one from Wendy's is much better. My boyfriend got the firecracker shrimp for $14.00. Very small serving size for that price, and the breading on the shrimp was soggy from sitting in it for too long. I do not see myself going back here again.

As far as location it's great. If you are looking for a place to get something GOOD to eat, this is not it. A place on the water with harpoon in the name should be able to do fish better than this. My grouper was dry and overcooked. The flavor was just "eh".... Even the pitchers of beer were a rip off. Pay special attention to the clever little "can in the center of the pitcher" to keep the beer cool. For those of you that have never been in the bar industry this also takes up precious space in the pitcher where there should be beer but now is a useless "can". Overall, I wont be going back when I come back to this area. There's tons of places on the water to eat and you can also get a full pitcher as well.

2 people: 4 beers $3.60 ea., onion straw basket appetizer, lunch = $50.00 with a water view Waitress was very pleasant but busy. Food was good. Don't pass this by.

Had the blackened grouper and it was great. They were really busy but the service was still good.

Foods okay, Nothing impressive. Our waitress was absolutely rude, and not very attentive. We couldn't even find her for most of our time there. We would maybe go again, but probably not.

Main advantage here is location at fisherman's village and on the harbor. Food is bland and sub par, and for some reason they tend to leave the plastic over the outdoor seating area even when the weather is nice. Plenty better waterside restaurants nearby.

We walked to the end of Fisherman's Village for the view. That's about all that's worth it at this place. We entered and there's no hostess. You grab a menu then it's a free for all trying to get a seat. People hover over you like a seagull waiting for food. Next we had to wait for someone to notice we were there. That took probably 15 minutes. We ordered food and drinks together fearing we'd never see the waitress again. OVER AN HOUR LATER we got our food. It was ok. Portions were fine and the grouper basket was really moist. The fries were cold though. We waited another 20 min for our waitress to realize we were done then immediately gave her a card to pay. Over 10 minutes later she comes back. I don't know if they need more help or if this is just the pace of this place. Overall I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The view is nice but it took out a huge chunk of our day and definitely wasn't worth it.

Ok folks. It is what it is. Picnic table style dining on the end of a pier. I always go for the grouper sandwich and have never been disappointed. My dining companion tried the grilled shrimp and scallop salad and still remarks how good it was. Grab a draft and enjoy the view - heck just enjoy life and remember that your picnic table is a pretty nice place to be for lunch.

The only good things about this place were: tasty Cuervo Gold margaritas and the over-the-water location, which didn't really matter to us since it was dark when we were there. First, there was no light so we could hardly read our menus, then our table was so greasy we had to ask for a busboy to swing by and clean it off, and he seemed much more interested in trying to flirt with my niece. Question: How do you mess up chips & salsa?? Answer: Send out STALE chips with (I swear) salsa FROM A JAR. Gross. The bread on my grilled cheese sandwich was almost burnt, yet the cheese wasn't even melted, so I sent it back and ordered the mozzarella sticks, which were ok; I don't think there's much you can do to mess those up. We didn't get our cheap plastic silverware and napkin combos until we were almost finished eating. The place was hopping with a lot of drunk and well-on-their-way-to-being-drunk retirees, snowbirds and tourists. If you're into that kind of scene, you'd be right at home.

We have now tried all the restaurants in the Fisherman's Village, the view is the best here. Also they have VIP motorcycle parking right in front of the door, my kind of place! We ordered 10 garlic wings as an app, they were good, but not great heavy on the garlic light on the actual sauce. Wifey had fried seafood platter, she loved it I tried a scallop and a piece of the fish, both were very good, but the batter was a little heavy for me. I tried something different trying to eat lighter. Shrimp/Scallop Saute salad was very good. The actual oil/sauce they sauteed the seafood in was poured over the salad greens. Very good! Her fried plate came with french frys and slaw, both here ok. Our server Ashley was good and the view was great!

Having arrived to my fathers house on Friday after a 2 and a half hour drive from Miami, we opted to eat out and save the dish cleaning to the restaurant people. We arrived at about 2:30 on a perfectly sunny day and chose a nice table right on the water. Nothing about this place is pretentious, there is a roll of paper towels on the table for hand cleaning, and paper plates abound. Having said that, the food was really very good. We ordered conch chowder, peel and eat shrimp, Moscow oysters, philly cheese steak and a pot roast sandwich. The oysters were the show stopper- topped with vodka and caviar. Wow! delicious and fresh. Even the peel and eat shrimp were above average. Service was average at best and even though our waitress was friendly, she was forgetful at times. Fine though. We would come back again because the food was really good and the views are sensational. Sunsets alone would be worth 25% of the bill.

Perfect setting for starting vacation off right!! Sat waterside and enjoyed the view with a cocktail. We had the grouper basket and a shrimp basket. If you go here knowing what to expect, you'll be happy. Good drinks at a reasonable price. A patron silver Rita for only $6.

Party of six, two ordered the grouper basket and one ordered grouper sandwich. Waited about 25 minutes for food which was not unpleasant as we enjoyed the view and chatted. Food arrived and the grouper baskets looked great and the top 3 pieces tasted good. Below the couple of pieces of grouper on top of the basket it was a basket full of tilapia. We told the waitress and she said the manager would come out. Manager showed up about 10 minutes later insisting that the grouper basket was indeed grouper and that it is so thin because of the way it is sliced. (Also had a vein running thru it similar .to tilapia). Made no apology and basically told my sister she didn't know what she was talking about-my sister has lived in Florida 25+ years and runs a restaurant. My sister even gave her an out stating perhaps the wrong basket was pulled from the kitchen in error and again she insisted it was not a mistake. We did not want the food comped we just wanted a price reduction to the fish basket which is what she got. This manager did not make a good impression as the manager was argumentative as well as condescending...We usually take all of our visitors there but will not do that in the future as it was a very unpleasant experience.

Not a bad place. Food was fairly good but nothing special. Atmosphere was chill with a nice view of the bay. Construction on the restaurant was in progress. Drinks aren't cheap. Check it out out if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way.

This is our second time at Harpoon Harry's. Five years ago, ordered calamari.. found a piece of plastic in my food. Today, ordered the talapia dinner... found a large strip of melted plastic in my orzo and veggies. Everything tasted like melted plastic. The waitress, Anne, was kind enough to take it back. This was my very last time eating there.. very dangerous for you health!

Third time dining here...we sat at the bar and we're greeted promptly. We ordered our appetizer and food. Both came out very fast. The app. Was the spinach and artichoke dip...it was delicious. The grouper sandwich on the other hand was very bland and greasey. We were totally ignored by two bartenders the entire meal. Our beers are currently sitting empty as I type this. We were never asked how our food was. The guy sitting next to us came in and ordered a draft beer, the bartender Priscilla proceeded to make server drinks and he had to ask again for his beer and it was slammed down in front of him. We used to love this spot but not now with the shitty service. Both my boyfriend and I are bartenders and this is unacceptable. Since being in the business we feel obligated to tip but other than that any other patron would not. 20% in my book is shitty service since we always leave at least 30-40% tip. Just horrible. Priscilla and Mary the manager.

Dined tonight @ Harpoon Harry's. We thought the food was very good. We were there at night. But, we can only imagine how great the view must be in the sunlight hours. I had the cod basket & my better half had a roast beef sandwich. Jamie our waitress did a nice job!

Whoever owns/runs this restaurant should be embarrassed and sent back to hospitality school. We arrived on Monday afternoon, a party of 5. We stood there for 5 minutes till we realized they have not host to greet you. You have to pick up your own menus and find a seat. There were 10 empty tables but all with reserved signs on them, so we weren't allowed to sit there. So we were forced to stand, hovering over customers eating their food, trying to figure out which table was going to be done first. as each new customer came in , it became a game to see who could claim a table first, there were over 15 people waiting to eat, and yet they continued to keep the 10 empty tables empty. After 10 minutes we tossed the menus aside and walked out, never once approached by any employee. Don't waste your time go somewhere else where you will be appreciated.

I stop here every time I get to town (5-6 times a year). Views are awesome, saw dolphins last time I was there. Beer is cold and plentiful and sandwhiches are good. We recommend to all of our friends who visit and they have all enjoyed! Always sit outside!

Ate here for the second time this week. Again the food was awesome. Grilled chix great smoky grilled flavor. Black russian sandwich loaded with tender meat and saved half for the next day. Best Reuben ever! Waitress busy but very attentive. Great value for such a touristy waterfront area. Only $23 for the two of us

Hello FOOD SNOB here in FLA. If ever in this area check this place out. Its located in a semi outdoor mall called Fishermans village. You can sit right on the water. Was here with a friend in the mid day. It was hot out but where we sat on the gulf it was nice with the breeze. We first had fried shrimp with a really good batter coating instead of breaded. Was not greasy and tasted very good for Shrimp. I had the Broiled Tilapia which was very tastey. My friend had Salmon Salad which I tasted and was Tops. Back home a place like this would not have good fish. Perhaps because its Florida most places here have good quality fish. Again if your in the area this is a COOL PLACE !!

Harpoon Harry's lounge could use more fresh food/vegetarian options, as the only items a vegetarian could eat is the salad and nachos, but the air hockey by the bar is fantastic!

When you reach the end of Fisherman's Village, the only place to go is...Harpoon Harry's! Of course. A friend and I went here for lunch after shopping in FV, and sat out on the deck by the harbor (because that's what you do!) We split an order of coconut shrimp for an appetizer: large, not overly fried and served with a coconut-milk-y based sauce, they were deeelicious. For the entree, I got a pot of mussels on pasta with cajun seasoning. The mussels were a little tough (and hard to wrangle out of the shells with the plastic pronged "seafood forks" you're given), but the cajun seasoning mixed into the buttery noodles was spicy and yummy (though initially it was just a clump of cajun spice in the middle of the pot; it really did need some mixing). My friend got the crab cake sliders (since her initial choice of one of the baskets looked like it would be too much food for lunch) and liked them. Overall, good place for a relaxing lunch on the water.

Cold beer and lots of drink choices. Party happening couple days I f the week. Food is typical fried/ broiled seafood items. I love the oysters and grouper tastes fresh. Excellent view of the river and it is fun to come by boat. Walking through fishermans village is fun to people watch and sometimes great entertainment at the center stage. Good vacation vibe even though we live here!

  • Chris H.

They don't charge extra for the view. Harpoon Harry's is right on the water and a nice place to enjoy a Fish basket or Grouper sandwich. Perfect for lunch. It's casual dinning at it's finest... come-as-you-are ... type restaurant . The staff was friendly and courteous, the food came relatively fast, and we enjoyed a wonderful sunset.

  • Echo S.

Ate here for lunch today and we were pleased. Love the view, waitress was very nice and the food was delicious! We had the grouper basket, shrimp basket seafood platter and a hamburger. All were great. We would definitely visit this restaurant again!

Was there on St Patty's day. Best thing about the place was scenery (on the water). It was crowded and you had to stalk for a table if you wanted to sit near the water. Service was good especially considering how crowded it was. Food - eh. I had blackened grouper sandwich and was severely underwhelmed. Did not have a lot of taste. One person had crab cake sliders which appeared to be frozen/mass produced. It was mostly cake and not much crab. Third member had pork sandwich which they liked. Again the scenery/location was the redeeming value.

We ate here this week, and despite the lovely setting the food was awful. As others have said, a good place for drinks but not for eating. Even if you are only having drinks, the plastic glasses let this down and my wife's Margarita was way too sweet and way too weak. They also only sell beer in small 12 oz glasses - no pints. Nice setting to watch a sunset, but that's about it. We won't be going back.

Depends on the day. Had good and bad both food and service. Bathroom can be disgusting, view is nice; weather permitting. Go upstairs to the Captain's Table instead.

Nice big place with three separate bars, ok on the beer selection, friendly service. Too touristy for me but I'll stop by again for a beer.

    (3)
  • Jessica Y.

Got drinks and apps here. Decent place at the end of the pier at fisherman's village. Food is standard bar food but there is a large drink selection and stage/dance floor for live music. Main draw is the view so get a table close to the water!

    (2)
  • Jules S.

Yes, the view is pretty, and that is the ONLY plus. The food was not good at all, the beer was not cold and our waitress was an absolute witch from before we were even fully seated. Need I say more?

Located in Fisherman's Wharf in Punta Gorda. Great Sports bar with lots of tv's. Beautiful views but the food is just average. If you want to have a drink or a cold beer and watch some sports this is the place. Service is good too.

    (3)
  • Randy S.

Horrible service, foods average and took forever to come out. Bathroom look like a tornado came thru it and has this weird soap like GoJo a mechanic uses. Not to mention it has stainless steel toilets with no toilet seats.

Over a 5 day vacation in Port Charlotte, we ended up eating at HH three times. (I know, I know, but the men LOVED the Oysters Moscow & us girls LOVED the drinks) This restaurant is at the end of Fisherman's Village, which is fun in itself. You walk in, grab some menus and seat yourself. Very casual environment. Okay, I had the peel and eat shrimp twice (holy cow it's great) and then I ventured off and ordered the crab cakes. All of it was fantastic. The atmosphere is wonderful as we were able to find a table outside each time. If you're not much into sitting in the sun, choose the inner table on the outside deck. The breezes are wonderful and the view is amazing. We watched the sunset one day and dolphins the next. We even enjoyed a fun air hockey tournament at the end of the night. Service was awful only one of the three times, so I just assumed our waitress either had too many tables to handle or was having an off day. It happens. We tried many of their special drinks including the Bucket. The only downside is that the prices are pretty steep for what you get, but I think the quality is there. We averaged about $70 each couple each time, including meal and plenty of drinks.

This was my first time to Fisherman's Village, and after reading reviews of Harpoon Harry's I was unsure if it was the right place to go. We seated ourselves in a great booth along the edge of the restaurant overlooking the water. Our waitress was very friendly and was prompt in serving. The atmosphere was great! Exactly what you think of when you think of an outdoor, on the water bar/restaurant. I will agree with the other reviews that the food was average. I would have given it 3 stars if based off of food alone. I ordered the grouper salad and tasted the seared tuna and mussels, as well.

    (4)
  • Colleen S.

Update: we went back last week as the other half loves the place. Got Oysters Moscow. Who is shucking them in that kitchen! Five of them were full of she'll pieces, nasty! Bartender did offer to get us more but lost my appetite. Stick to drinks at Harpoon Harry's!

Extremely casual and noisy. Also.... if U go there for dinner during the "light show" months of November & December, expect crowds and MORE noise.

    (2)
  • Emily M.

I agree with Valley Guy G... I would rate this a star less if strictly speaking of food. The atmosphere and view are awesome!!! What a gorgeous view of the boats going by or even coming in to tie off and get a bite to eat. The food definitely wasn't anything to write home about, but we enjoyed the deck/bay seating.

    (4)
  • Zach K.

View of the bay is wonderful. As far as the food goes, think of it as beach bar food. Beer is in 12 oz plastic cups and food is served in a basket. I read the reviews and knew what to expect so I was less disappointed than other reviewers. The view is amazing though.

    (3)
  • Tom L.

Went there for my birthday. Everything was going great until something fell from the ceiling and hit me on my shoulder and bounced to the table. What was it you ask? One fine sample of fresh rat excrement. Never again!

I have been to Harpoon Harry's several times now and it is basically an outdoor bar setting with a somewhat icky look and feel. BUT I really enjoy going there for some fried shrimp or oysters and a pitcher of beer. When they get the food out to you hot, it is pretty good. When they are really busy, they might not get it out to you hot and then it is not so good. The view is fantastic and so nice to sit by the harbor, dressed as comfortably as you want, and just enjoy the breeze, watch boats (and people), and yes the birds are somewhat fun to watch, but they strongly discourage you from feeding them. When it is warm enough it is totally open air, but you sit under cover and can stay out of the direct sun for the most part. When it is chilly, they drop plastic "windows" and even turn on heaters if needed, but the view is still terrific. As one reviewer said: "It is what it is." If you are very picky then you probably won't like it.

    (3)
  • Brittany B.

Good for drinks. It has a great view when it's warm, but if you are wanting good food go somewhere else and come here if you want to just relax with a drink. Food is ok, but could be better and is overpriced.

  • Laura M.

Atmosphere is what I expected and fun but the food - disappointing! I am allergic to bell peppers and immediately told the waitress. I asked if the crab in the crab sliders had bell peppers and she said yes, then I said then I assume so does the crab stuffing for the fish and again yes. I switched gears and ordered the lemon pepper shrimp with orzo and steamed veggies. I asked if the veggies had bell peppers and she said no. We ordered the onion straws for our appetizer - that was the highlight sad to say. When my plate was brought to me, there were bell peppers all in the veggies. Seriously, when a waitress is drilled over the fact that their customer is allergic to something why on earth would you serve them a plate with them loaded on it? She took it back and brought me another plate and then informed me that the shrimp on the first plate was also the wrong kind. Good grief! My mom's stuffed fish was over cooked, the veggies (which she could have) were severely under cooked, my shrimp was alright but the orzo was over cooked. It wasn't busy when we ate around 4:30 p.m. so what was up? I would assume they are great for their drinks and bar food appetizers but for a real meal - I will go elsewhere. Visiting from CA you would assume FL had great seafood at seafood restaurant but not here.

  • M S.

Service was HORRIBLE. 3 out of 4 orders were wrong. Waited forever for our meals-- think the waitress forgot to put the order in and when she did, she was guessing. Hamburgers ordered medium were hard, dry pucks. I would never go there again....

I think everyone knows this is a place you go to for a good view and fun atmosphere... not for the food. This is a place you take out of town guests and tourists visit. Right on Charlotte Harbor! It's pretty much outdoors because half of the restaurant is on a deck. Watch boats come and go. See the sunset. The food is pretty good for bar food. Lots of fried foods, so it's almost hard to get it wrong. If you are local and don't want to run in to anyone you know, don't go here! Friday and Saturday nights, especially around the holidays, it's a high school reunion. I celebrated New Years here a few years back and it was PACKED. Live music all night. Of course they really increase the cover charge, but that's typical for New Year's Eve. Drink prices seem to have increased over the years. Overall, it's a must-do if you visit the area.

    (3)
  • Jeff B.

Great view of the Peace River & Charlotte Harbor. Good atmosphere too. Beer is cold and the food is decent and fairly priced.

Large busy open bar and raw bar. Very casula place. Had fish and chips that were good but not great. Drinks were above average. Service was not good. Great views of the waterway. At the end of Fishermans Village; a covered shopping pier with lots of gift and novelty shops.

  • Bill S.

We did HH twice in the last few weeks just because the weather was so great and sitting outside on a beautiful March evening watching the sunset off the deck is a terrific way to spent time. The food is typical pub fare but I believe the Grouper sandwich is one of the best around. Get there early to get a deckside seat. Have a drink or two. The pina colada's are tasty and have a side rum shooter inside a small tube right in the drink. On our second visit our server Dani was attentive and friendly. She made the experience a memorable one. The downside was the fact that smoking is allowed on the deck and on a windy day you get a steady whiff. Solve that and HH would get 5 stars mainly for the atmosphere, the grouper sandwich and Dani.

If you go for food, downgrade to 3 stars. Otherwise, this place is well set up for bar & band festivities. Mutliple bars, stage and pool tables ...with the bay right outside. Cool place in a sleepy Punta Gorda.

This has to be the best place to go to when visiting the Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda area to sit back, relax, drink pitchers of cold beer, and eat along the waterfront of Charlotte Harbor. There are docks with yachts and boats, and frequently you'll have a party cruise pass you by, with loads of shiny, happy people laughing and waving at you. This is what the notion of "good times" is all about, folks. A real low key kind of atmosphere where there is no need to labor over dolling yourself up. Flip flops, shorts, and a tank top suffice (for both genders). They have live music playing during weekends, and it's mostly bluesy rock numbers. But it's all songs that essentially anyone knows the words to. Retirees, students, housewives, bikers, beachcombers, etc all swaying along to the music, not caring if it's "cool" or hip." Cuisine is typical bar fare, and it is mostly deep fried (even the fish), so don't expect much in terms of "health food" except for a garden salad sans the dressing. If you're a serious carnivore, you have to have the burgers. They're ginormous and everything a slab of grilled beef should attain to be.

Ok The menu did not have much variety The service was poor at best, the waitress forgot to put in one of the kids meals, and an adult meal. We got our pitcher of beer and the cups came 5 minutes later. Food quality wasn't very good either. The turkey club, burger, and fried fishermans plate were decent. The grouper basket, chicken wings and steamed basket of Cajun mussels and clams were less than memorable. The view was spectcular, but this is southwest florida, a spectacular view is as easy to find as a Dunkin Donuts in Boston. I thought it was great that they had a small arcade area , but 3 of the 7 games including the pinball were out of order. There was also no where for our group of 7 adults and 2 children to sit together, th tables are bolted to the floor. We were sat at tables accross the aisle from the rest of our friends. Go for the view and enjoy the company you are with. Bring your appeite elswhere

Best bar to hang at on the water. The bar tenders are all nice once you crack them, got to remember lots of tourist roll through so you can understand if they don't treat you like a new face...after a few trips and fair tips they see you aren't just a vacationer looking to complain about life.

I lived in Punta Gorda Isles for 2 years. I wish that I didnt have to move away...I loved it there. Harpoon Harry's is a MUST for anyone visiting! Its not about the food....but the atmosphere. The food is good....it would be equivalent to Red Lobster's food.... but the people, entertainment and view make it awesome. If you're there for drinks....you will love it! This place is also very entertaining for the kids....up until about 8pm. After 8pm the atmosphere is more for adults only. All Holidays are filled with entertainment and you can spend the whole day there if you can hang! The weekend nights feature live bands and dancing. Week nights feature Karaoke or other entertainment. The place can be really busy and the waitresses are great...but service can be slow at times due to the crowd. Don't be afraid to go up to the bar and order or stop a waitress for help. My family came down for 4th of July and loved the place! I will definitely come back in the near future. Harpoonharrys.com has more infor on events. Bottom line: Two Thumbs up!

All in all the food is pretty good here. The buccaneer burger was my favorite, served tender and juicy. They have pretty good gator bites appetizers here to. Harpoon Harry's has gotten pretty expensive over the years. Service in general at Harpoons is not that great.

I live in Punta Gorda and have been to Harpoon many times over the years. As time goes by, the quality of the meals goes down as the prices go up. My husband ordered the sea food platter the other night for 15.95. When it arrived it was served in a plastic basket that was so sparse the paper liner under the food was all exposed. This was more like a kids meal rather than a platter for an adult. I ordered the grouper and it was so over cooked I had to send it back. in exchange for talapia. By the time it arrived my husband was all done with his meal and with the horrible service we received we just asked for a to go box. I ate it when I got home and it too was so overcooked, the meal went to our dog. When the bill came they tried to charge me for both my meals and I had to complain. The prices were very high and even though there were only a few people in the place it took forever to get any service. In the future I think I will just stick to the Captains Table instead as even though owned by the same people, they have much better food and much more attentive wait staff. I will not be going back to Harpoon Harry's again. I can get the same view upstairs!!

We ordered Oysters Moscow and Conch Chowder and shared between the two of us and I could have eaten my body weight in Oysters. Oysters Moscow - fresh shucked oysters with vodka, horseradish, cocktail sauce and black caviar. My mouth is watering just writing about it. Impecably cleaned oysters with no one grain of sand. Caviar was delicious. Both dishes were fantastic on the patio overlooking the water.

Great location with great view. The service is excellent. The food is OK. Just your typical fried bar food. Great place to hang out with friends and throw back some beers!!

Been coming to Harpoon Harry's for years and the food never changes, still the same gross fried food. Need to update there menu too. Prices have gone high for the quality of food you receive. The atmoshere is wonderful nice view by the water. That's the only reason for coming back.

This place is simply all about the location and view as it's a great stop for waterfront dining in the area. The menu isn't fancy by any means and provides an adequate supply of harbor-side dining options, coupled with typical pub fare. Drinks aren't too overpriced, either - though service appears to be "hit or miss" in the place. On weekend evenings there is live music to peak your interest for dancing while the sun goes down. Not a bad stop, but I'd be willing to explore other waterfront places in the area, too.

The only two things this restaurant has going for it is the location and the awesome band on Friday an Saturday nights. The food is mediocre at best and the service is consistently terrible. They do a heck of a business anyway. It seems that people are okay with low expectations when it comes to waterfront restaurants.

This is a place that I remember going to as a kid with my parents in Florida. It was always a highlight of our vacation because it was attached to a really great and unique shopping strip. But my have things changed. Not only is the warf boring and tacky but this restaurant seems to have gone way down hill. The food took literally hours. We sat down at 6:45 and were not eating until almost 9. As you can imagine the food was cold by the time it got to us. The wait staff were less than accommodating to our group of 7. We ordered the mozzarella sticks and coconut shrimp and there was 4 tiny shrimp and 4 mozzarella sticks that looked straight out of a microwave. The menu is lengthy and looks like it could be great if the food had been warm, prepared well and delivered within a reasonable time frame. Needless to say we won't be going back.

Love sitting at a booth by the water. Open air and hear and see the water. Good music and reasonably priced dishes. Has a game area pool, air hockie, game machines. Costume contest in October. For kids to the adult night. Just a nice stop over T-shirts and sea salt wash.

Great place for a sunset rendezvous with my love. I ordered bucket of steamed shrimp. Jeff ordered chicken salad melt, which is always odd. It's like ordering Chicken of Sea. Haha I'm so funny. Serving good, cocktails good, food hummm it's food

Beer was warm. Food was ok but not great. Service has been pretty inconsistent. Waiter got into a fist fight with manager who was stealing tips.

We really don't like leaving one or two star reviews however after a meal we could not think of anything that would take it higher than these types of marks. You are solely paying for the amazing view on the water unfortunately after that there's not much to offer. The alcoholic drinks are heavily heavily water down and take on more of a clear color than anything else. Big menu but very bland with lots of fried foods.

Best waterfront view and all the best games on TV at the same time. Good seafood and burgers. Natchoos too

I have read some of the other reviews so here's mine. We go there usually for lunch. It's always busy but we have never waited to sit down and place our order. Hubby likes their club sandwich and I have tried several things. Really like their shrimp basket. Water view is awesome and the price for lunch is reasonable.

I keep trying to like this place which is why I've been back twice (three times total.) They have the best wings I've found in Punta Gorda and I've tried them at many places. The restaurant also has great views of the bay and it's nice and relaxing watching all types of boats come and go. We had a server who hustled but our order was messed up. Since we already had to wait for the wings the first time we didn't want to wait again so that we could get what we ordered. I'm guessing problems in the kitchen but I really don't know. Not sure if I'll be back. If I do return I'll make sure I'm not starving when I do.

What you would expect from a waterfront bar/sport bar/restaurant. Decent, affordable food. Nice selection of seafood, and some food for landlubbers. Local beer selection could be larger. Beautiful sunsets.

Kinda upset... Went here about two years ago on vacation and just went back and was totally disappointed... I remember the food being so much better. They gave me hardly any guacamole and for an extra change its was a rip off... Location is literally the only thing they have going for them. Wouldn't waste my money

Went there for the first time tonight. The food was horrible and the service was horrible. I had to pull over to get sick on the way home. Doesn't even deserve 1 star.

Food was fresh but not anything special. My raspberry Margarita was very good. The only thing spectacular is the location. Waitress was very fast and polite. There are games in the restaurant to keep kids busy while adults enjoy their time.

  • Michael S.

I 100% agree with Jeff G....food is not good, but location makes up for that ever so sloghtly. Firecracker shrimp over battered, no spice and drenched in a honey BBQ sauce. Cod fish and chips overbattered, bland, greasy. Calamari big basket a pkus, buy not all fully cooked. Especially tenticle pieces. 2 stars for location.

I love this place. It sits at the bottom of Fisherman's Village Resort at the end of a shopping / dock promenade. Pool tables, a dance floor, live music, intermittent DJ, good for kids, surrounded on 3 sides by water, on a promontory. This place is the bee's knee's. See it soon. Cabeza OUT!

This is the worst restaurant that I have been. Unorganized, customers have to find their own tables, seats...No front desk for customers to register for a table. No first come first serve whatsoever. Always have someone tried to cut you off to get the table. You have to stay close to any table that almost done so you can get that table, otherwise, you SOL. It took forever to get your food and you can forget about refill water, no one ever go to your table to ask if you need anything else. I think they're understaffed from waiters to the kitchen people. I feel sorry for the waiters, no one could have a smile on their faces because they're so tired. I ordered a New England chowder, it was tasteless. While my husband had a fish and chips, again, too much battered on fish, too oily and also tasteless, but, the worst of all, his french fries was soggy, and still COLD inside. OMG, it wasn't fully cooked. How hard is it to make french fries??? We couldn't touched the food since they tasted TERRIBLE. Place was filthy, and so was the bathroom, no one ever cleaned all day, I guessed, paper towels were everywhere. The only good is the view, and that's it. Won't ever go back here. People, you have been warned.

Bar was nasty full of cigarette ashes and the bartender made no effort to cleanup the mess wanted to order food and drinks but left Togo someplace a little cleaner!

Great view!!! Fun place with cold beer, good oysters and great service. We came during the day but could see this be a fun spot at night. Sure it's a tourist area but you couldn't help but notice sitting on the water. They have a boat dock as well to drive up and have a beer or some lunch. We even found a pearl in our oyster, cool souvenir!

Food was ok very disappointed pretty sure it was not "fresh seafood" if in the area again will defiantly look elsewhere was not worth the walk from the parking lot to the restaurant

Location is everything. First the bad: the food is not good: cafeteria quality items that are pulled out of a bag and fried/microwaved ect. With that said, this place is not about the food. The location on the water and enormous amount of open air seating is what it is all about. The drink service is prompt, the bar serves a good variety. I'll return often here for that location, drinks and character.

  • Denise O.

HORRIBLE!!! Everything from all aspects minus the view are the worst!!! Disgusting food, beyond bad service if much service at all and lacking management to recognize the entire package is not functioning properly! Save yourself the aggravation and choose to starve as a better option!

  • Chris G.

Staff was really nice. Food was hit or miss. The grouper basket was really good but the fries shoulda had the oil changed. The stuffed grouper tasked really fishy and I would not recommend. The cajun shrimp was awesome. The fried shrimp was very good. We sould come back again. Checkin in from colorado!

  • Patti H.

Not a good place anymore. It used to be the place to go for drinks, sunset, and dinner. But you couldn't pay me to eat there anymore. The cooks have told me there are roaches running around the kitchen all the time. I understand we are in Florida and they are here, but this is a resturant and you should have a bug service!!! The food, is really gone down hill. The view is spectacular but that is about it. Deans is the new place for the weekends now.

The setting is magnificent, right by the water with a slight breeze and plenty of sunshine. A rum drink in my hand and nowhere I need to be. The food was okay I had a shrimp Po Boy and it was good and the fries were plentiful . My drink was made with just enough rum but not overpowering. All in all a good meal in a great setting. I would have given 5 stars but the cole slaw arrived warm, not room temperature but warm. The prices were reasonable for where I am right now.

Was the meeting point for relatives, as Fishermen's Village is halfway between me and where my cousins were staying. The first thing that caught my eye about Harpoon Harry's was how much of an open floor space it had. Bar and arcade style games up front (along with some couches, if I recall), tables and chairs in the back, over looking the water. Kinda like a reversed mullet - party in front, business in the rear. When I went, the place was pretty busy. The second thing, and most discerning bit, was the fact the patron is not seated by waitstaff. Instead, you're left to the vultures, in a way, because you - the customer - must find your own seating. Which only means there are a lot of hungry humans hovering over tables, waiting for a space to open up. The staff can't seem to get the tables cleared quick enough, as the birds of prey (the two legged walking kind) jump on the booth that just opened up. Be prepared to make a friend or two, to only schmooze them in hurrying up with their meal, so you can take their not even cold seat. Outside of feeling like you're in the middle of a very hectic 3 ring circus, the food was rather okay. My cousin ordered a shrimp salad of sorts. It was a huge house salad and ample breaded shrimp on top. I think she counted over a dozen shrimpies in her meal. There was a point where she was passing around the shrimp to the table, as it was so plentiful, she had her fill and wanted to share. Her husband ordered the Grouper basket, and had no complaints (he typically doesn't complain). I ordered the fish and chips basket, but to be honest, with 3 pieces of what looked like Gordon's breaded fish on my plate, I was left a little bummed. The batter wasn't as crispy as it should have been and the fries were more moist than what I'm used to (ie they tasted like they were dropped in grease just to get the freezer burn off, and not fully cooked, although they *were* fully cooked, all the same). I ate it anyway, to chalk it up to experience. My mom ordered a similar salad to my cousin, and there were no complaints to that as well. One of the only "saving graces" of the place is the view... Much like other people have stated in their comments. However, that shouldn't be the only reason you come here... there must be something else, but sadly, I didn't see it. Would I go again? As soon as I find a friend with a boat and we can take an adventure on the ocean over there. Maybe quiet a thirst with a beer and head back onto the water.

I am literally only able to give out one star. And the view earned the star. Other than that. Don't eat here. The food tastes like it came from a bag or a box and was thrown into a microwave. Also. Don't expect it to come out quickly because of that or even hot when it does. Go for a drink. Go for a pretty water view. Just don't spend much bc you'll surely have Diners Remorse. Oh and Ladies. If you have to use the restroom go find one elsewhere. If i had used the restroom before we ate we would have eaten elsewhere based on that. Yuck yuck yuck.

It's all about the location and being on the waterfront for harpoon Harry's. the beer selection is ok. I wish there was more local brews on tap other than key west and such. Bring in cigar city already!!! Food is ok if your stopping by fishermans village, but there's better places to dine at close nearby. Overall there ok. Waterfront view is the seller for me.

    (3)
  • Dave G.

Great setting and atmosphere that would be perfect for enjoying drinks on the waterfront, but don't go for the food. I ordered the blackened grouper basket. Note to the chef: "blackened" refers to the seasoning... you don't need to literally char the fish to the point that it's black! They were pretty busy for lunch but it seemed the service was lackluster. We ended up waiting a long time for the check.

Stopped in on a Thursday evening in August. Place was 95% empty but we sat at a small corner bar by the water. Bartender (Jeff) was nice and provided good service. Ordered fried conch appetizer - it was horrible. It came out quickly but it was fried to a nearly black color. It was not overcooked - it was cooked in very old and dirty grease. Disgusting!!! Also ordered the mussels which oddly came on a bed of noodles. It was average at best. I would drink there again but I would not eat the food again.

  • Bonnie S.

We waited forever for our food. I had a steam pot with mussels and clams in garlic butter. The clams were good but the mussels were overcooked and there was not a hint of garlic. My friend had the seafood platter and the taste was good but most was lukewarm. The waitress asked the manager to do something and all she would reduce our bill was for one iced tea and one beer (our only drinks). The prices are decent but I wouldn't recommend it.

    (3)
  • Larry B.

One star for service one star for view no stars for food! Fried grouper basket was not Grouper! Just small pieces of some not so good white fish! The grouper blackened salad was grouper but toooo overdone I fish one heck of a lot and catch a lot of fish and know what I'm talking about! In retrospect I should have sent the fried fish back. It was my wife's lunch and she knew it was not grouper immediately! We just wanted lunch on the water and drove up from Cape Coral but will not go back to this restaurant .

  • Clint T.

Like most people have been saying, it has a beautiful view. The service was decent considering there was a Pirate Festival and the place was packed. I got well scotch on the rocks. Nice serving size of scotch. I got the ceasar salad and added blackened chicken. The salad didnt seem fresh and the chicken was more burnt than blackened. There's really nothing they have to offer that will bring me running back.

  • John Q.

Got to go with the prevailing trend of the reviews here. Great view but the food was somewhere between mediocre and bad. I ordered the dozen clam steam pot which is supposed to be a dozen clams over pasta. Waitress returned with a pot with 6 clams and 6 mussels. When I pointed out the error, the waitress insisted that they were all clams. I pointed out the respective shellfish and said these are clams and these are mussels. The waitress said "No sir. Those are just two different types of clams." I finally insisted that she check with the kitchen. To her credit the manager looked at the dish and ordered that I get 6 more clams. But what kind of a seafood restaurant has wait staff that can't tell the difference between a mussel and a clam?

    (2)
  • Christina H.

So i been here before and the place is nice but the place had plastic silverware and the food is not that good i got the clam and mussels Cajun pasta it was horrible nothin to it and my wife had the stuff grouper very plain wasn't good at all.... ended up order the grouper sandwich it was ok. If u come here come for the dranks and the band not for the food

    (1)
  • Judy M.

Whenever we go here I order the clams. They are very generous and not strips like I get in other places. This is a great place to relax and see Dolpins on occasion playing in the water. I am going to have to go there again real soon, I did not mind finding our own place to sit--we like to sit next to the water. Yes, it is a very busy place, but that to me is a good thing--people like it.

    (5)
  • Brian R.

2 stars for the food.....the only thing you should ever order here is the pot roast sandwich. The bar would be rated 4 stars because of the view

    (2)
  • Vanessa R.

Atmosphere is really good and staff was quick. The conch fritters were not very good. The fried food baskets were decent, though it's not difficult to mess up fried food.
